I appreciate Arundel surgery is a very busy practice are is short of doctors, but I have had to wait seven weeks for an appointment.
The receptionist are just doing their job but can be quite obstructive. They tell you to ‘ring at 8.30’ the next day to get an urgent appointment but everyone else is doing that so getting through can take a very long time and when you go get through, all appointments have been taken.
This is happening everywhere and as a result, patients are attending A&E unnecessarily.
I object to being asked by a receptionist why I need to see a doctor. It’s none of their business!
I find it difficult to actually get through to the surgery by phone. Then having to tell your private business to a receptionist is not ideal. If I ask to see a Doctor often get referred to practice nurse. I think whether I need to see a doctor or nurse, should be my decision, not the receptionists.
Pro active and always looking to help
Arundel Surgery always give me the utmost attention they can ...
Receptionists were very helpful throughout but took about 3 different tries to get an appointment. Aka try online, call back tomorrow if urgent etc. I attribute this to government funding and staff acquisition and retention than performance of the surgery.
The Arundel Surgery was awarded the iWantGreatCare certificate of excellence in 2024 for delivering outstanding care.
